Megan Ehlert is from Maple Grove, MN. Her parents are Laurie & Ron Ehlert. She also has 1 sister, Sara. Megan’s platform is “Tails of independence” in conjunction with the Hearing and Service Dogs of Minnesota. Megan has been working with and advocating for this non-profit organization for six years. Megan and her family raise and train dogs that help Minnesotan’s who are deaf, hard of hearing, or physically disabled. They train puppies from the time they are eight weeks old to retrieve objects, open doors and drawers, hit handicap and elevator door buttons, along with many other physical tasks for the disabled. These dogs create a mutual partnership with their client and allow a greater life to be lived by increasing their client’s freedom, peace, and independence.
Megan is currently a sophomore at the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities, majoring in Animal Science Pre-Vet and plans to continue on to Veterinary School in the near future! In her free time, Megan enjoys shopping, discovering coffee shops, and twirling baton. Since second grade she has been actively practicing and competing in the sport of baton twirling. Megan became Miss Majorette of Minnesota in 2002 and has competed at nationals four times.

Miss South Central is an open pageant serving South Central Minnesota. To compete, you must be a resident, student, or employee in the State of Minnesota.

The 2008 pageant will be held
Saturday, August 9th 2008 - 7:00 PM
at Central Intermediate School
501 E. Elm Avenue, Waseca

Local History: This pageant was started in 2003 by Luke & Rochelle Odenbrett in conjunction with the Miss Mankato program. Kim Tischer (former Miss Waseca County director) served on this committee. In 2006, they separated from Miss Mankato and held their own pageant. In 2007, Luke and Rochelle handed the reins to Jennifer Burt & Christy Stewart, and the pageant is now held in conjunction with Miss Waseca County Sleigh & Cutter. Past Miss South Central titleholders include Lauren Demming, Jennifer Hudspeth, Rachel Mathson, and Jennifer Hilde. The new committee looks forward to building on the previous success of the Miss South Central program and is excited to be able to offer another title to the young women of Minnesota!
